Ed MacBeth — President and Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Mr. MacBeth joins PhotoLoft with 20 years of management experience with both public and pre-IPO companies. Most recently, MacBeth was Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at TiVo, spearheading the creation of the "personalized TV market". Prior to joining TiVo, MacBeth served as Vice President of Marketing for SCM Microsystems, a company specializing in enabling technologies for securing access to communication, commerce and digital content, which he helped take public in 1997. MacBeth also served as Director of Corporate Development at Caere Corporation, where he was responsible for developing, licensing and acquiring products and technologies that accounted for over half the company's revenue growth. MacBeth has a BS from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and an MBA from San Jose State University.
Jack Marshall — Vice Chairman of the Board
Mr. Marshall has been developing Internet applications since the advent of the medium. After technical assignments at Texas Instruments and Honeywell, Mr. Marshall worked as a sales manager for Teradyne (formerly MegaTest), a leading developer of high-end state-of-the-art semiconductor test equipment. Recently sold to Compaq Computer, AltaVista Technology (the predecessor to PhotoLoft) was founded by Mr. Marshall in 1996. Mr. Marshall received a BS in electrical engineering and computer engineering from Michigan State University, has taught electric circuit analysis at Highland Community College in Illinois and completed a wide variety of master level classes in computer engineering at Santa Clara University.
Daniel DeVoe — Vice President, Marketing
A former photo-finishing lab owner and a veteran in the photographic and imaging industry, Mr. DeVoe brings over 20 years expertise to PhotoLoft. Most recently, Mr. DeVoe was Manager of Business Development for the Business Development Division of Canon U.S.A. and was the driving force behind Canon's HyperPhoto Digital Express and the HyperPhoto Network. In 1991, Mr. DeVoe founded Denim Systems, Inc., a leading provider of Order Entry, Production Workflow and Accounting software to hundreds of photo/imaging labs. His experience includes positions as Systems Analyst with AT&T, Product Manager Hewlett-Packard, and Product Marketing Manager at UltraScan/Electronic Diagnostic Services. Mr. DeVoe's initial professional exposure to photography began in the U.S. Navy, where he was a computer technician, photographer and scuba diver aboard the Bathyscaph Trieste, a research submarine. Mr. DeVoe holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Michigan.
Bob Free — Vice President, Production and Engineering
Brings over 26 years of software design experience, including web and multimedia development expertise to PhotoLoft. During his career he was architect, engineering manager and an award-winning designer for 3D Web Products at Live Picture, the company that pioneered the revolutionary FlashPix image format. PhotoLoft is one of the first companies to bring the benefits of FlashPix to Internet consumers. Mr. Free's most recent experience was in senior management with Integrated Software & Devices (ISDCorp), where he was director of engineering for the company's Graphics Software Group, a division acquired from Cirrus Logic. In 1982 Mr. Free founded GraphComp and was CEO for the company, which provided software development consulting to Fortune 500 companies. He also founded Grafman Productions as a GraphComp subsidiary providing corporate graphics, Internet site management and Web content. Other experiences include leading technical roles with McDonnell Douglas, Novell, and NetManage.
Chris McConn — Co-founder, Chief Technology Officer
Mr. McConn has extensive expertise in programming C++ and has served as a consultant to Borland International, a leading producer of Windows Library (OWL), a foundation for PhotoLoft. With a BSEE from UC Davis, Mr. McConn has over 13 years of industry experience including stints at Ford Aerospace and Teradyne, where he oversaw the company's software QA development.
Kay Wolf Jones — Vice President, E-Business
Ms. Jones began her career working in advertising agencies as an account executive and media planner. She joined Konami, a leader in the video game industry, and held a variety of marketing management positions and was named Vice President of Marketing in 1995. In addition, Ms. Jones was a board member of IDSA, a governing body that produced national guidelines and policies for the video game industry. Ms. Jones has a BA in Advertising from Michigan State University.
